There are no rules, but with a basic knowledge of the color wheel and three design schemes, you can learn the techniques used by decorators to coordinate fabrics and create beautiful rooms. This "crash course" is a must for anyone decorating a home or considering a business in interior design. Join us as we touch and feel a variety of fabric samples and critique photos of room plans from top designers.

Slipcover Style

A slipcover is a wonderful way to transform a worn or out-of-date chair or sofa. They bring warmth and comfort to any room plus reinforce design themes by injecting a splash of color and style. Discover the basics of slipcover design and fabrication as you learn the step-by-step construction of a complete parsons chair slipcover. You will learn the professional techniques for proper pattern placement, reverse pin-fitting, and efficient stitching.

Window Treatment Design Principles

Window treatments play a dramatic role in the overall design scheme of a room. Learn window treatment classifications, measuring techniques and workroom standards, while exploring how balance, proportion, light control, and fabric selection affect their design. Survey options for fabric, hardware and embellishments as you critique over fifty photographs from top designers.  This class is a must for anyone who hopes to purchase, design, or sell custom window treatments

You, Too, Can Grow Roses

Enjoy roses from late May to a heavy frost! This workshop will provide an introduction to types and varieties of these beautiful flowers and teach you how to plant, prune, grow and protect them.

Bring in Your Orchids

Are you afraid to repot your orchids?  If so, this is the class for you.  Bring in up to 3 of your orchids from home and after a demonstration, you will repot your orchids.  We will discuss the benefits and challenges of repotting orchids.  After this class, you should feel confident to repot your orchids on your own. A $12 supply fee which includes:  potting medium, plastic pots and root stimulator, is due at the start of the class.  Decorative orchid pots and additional supplies will be available for purchase.
