Upholstery Workshop: A Slip Seat Chair

In this hands-on workshop, you will learn how to remove the old covering and cushioning, how to determine and acquire the needed supplies, and how to use upholstery tools and techniques while reupholstering the seat of a slip-seat chair.  Tools will be available for you to use during class time.  All supplies can be purchased from the instructor or you may bring your own.  No experience necessary.  Note:  a slip-seat chair is a chair with an upholstered seat that is attached with screws to the frame of the chair. Bring your own chair seat.

Spring in the Herb Garden

For a new start this spring, plan and plant an herb garden to include culinary, ornamental, medicinal and scented herbs.  We will discuss growing conditions, spacing, various herb garden designs, maintenance, and uses of the herbs as well as pruning.  You will have the opportunity to observe mature plants each week and see how they change as spring progresses.  We will discuss history, lore, various methods of propagation and how to preserve herbs for later on.  *Please dress for outdoors and bring gloves and clippers.

Orchid Repotting Workshop

In this hands-on class, you will repot and take home three orchids out of bloom. You will learn the basics of repotting orchids as well as the challenges you may come across with your orchids.  You will be amazed at how easy it is to repot your plants. Bring a box to transport your plants home in and be ready to dig in.  Garden gloves are optional.  A $30 supply fee which includes: 3 orchids out of bloom, potting medium, plastic pot and root stimulator, is due at the start of the class.  Decorative orchid pots and additional supplies will be available for purchase.
