Woodworking Fundamentals: Bookends

This informative, hands-on class will be held at a fully equipped woodshop and classroom. You'll have the opportunity to learn the operation of many of the most common woodshop power tools as you create a set of sliding bookends for your own use. You'll discover techniques such as how to select lumber, milling of your project components, lamination of multiple woods to create visual interest, and tips and tricks for assembly and joinery. Introduction to Aikido

This course will introduce the basics of Aikido. Aikido is a non-competitive, defense-oriented, Japanese system of self-defense, which utilizes circular, fluid body movements to deal with an attack. Students will learn basic falls and rolls, known as Ukemi, as well as the basic techniques that make up the foundation of Aikido training such as takedowns, joint locks and body throws. Aikido provides an aerobic workout and promotes increased flexibility through regular stretching. Students should wear either sweats or a Gi if they have one. Instructor has 20 years' experience as a teacher and tutor. This 8- week course will teach you the skills and strategies you need to master all sections of the ACT, including the essay and science sections. Weekly completion of homework is expected.
